Indonesia consists of approximately 17,000 islands, with most of the larger islands being mountainous, lush, rugged terrain with active volcanoes. This unique and rich soil results in exceptional coffee, with most of the coffee production undertaken by small family-owned farms.

The Kerinci region is located on the island of Sumatra. The Koerintji Barokah Bersama Cooperative operates collection centres for local family-owned farms to sell their cherries. Once the cherries are collected, sorted, and processed, they are sent to the central milling station.

Indonesian natural processed coffees require meticulous care and attention due to the high humidity, rainfall and harsh sunlight. Once the cherries are carefully sorted, they are laid on raised beds to dry. The drying beds and located with domes to protect the coffee during the drying process. Regular turning of the coffees is essential to ensure consistent drying. Once the required moisture content is achieved, the coffees are milled and sorted by hand, ready for export.
